Mitsubishi Project Car
Rear Spring Installation

Here we used a strut vice to support the strut securely. We then used a quality spring compressor to compress the spring in order to remove the upper strut mount. After removing the strut mounts and spring it is a good idea to inspect the strut. If the struts need to be replaced, this is the time to do it.
Next we were ready to install the new Intrax springs. Here you can visually see the height difference between the original equipment spring and the new unit from Intrax. Great color too!
On this application (as with most cases) we were required to trim the bump stops before installing the springs.
To install the new spring we needed to compress it slightly but not too much as it is shorter than the original. We placed the spring over the strut, re-installed the upper strut mount and torque the bolt to the manufacturers specifications and finally released the spring pressure
Here is the final assembly as it was being re-installed into the vehicle. We re-installed it in the reverse order of removal. We made sure that all bolts were torqued to the manufacturer’s specifications.
